Pizza making in the gardens of the 1856 homestead at Yankalilla. Knead, top and cook your own pizza, then eat it at the long table.
You start with the dough. Flour, water, yeast, salt, a little olive oil – the classic pizza dough, mixed and kneaded by hand on the bench. You learn what the dough should feel like at every stage, how to knead it, and how to know when it has proved enough.
Then the fun part. You stretch your own base – no rolling pins, just fingertips and knuckles – and build your pizza from the topping bench: sauce, cheese and a seasonal line-up of local toppings. Your pizza, your call.
Your pizza goes in to cook while you clean the flour off your hands, and comes out with your name on it. Then the best bit: everyone sits down and eats what they made, straight from the oven while it is hot.
You leave with the dough recipe, the method, and the confidence to make pizza night at home a from-scratch affair.
What goes on the topping bench changes with the seasons. The booking page for each date confirms the exact line-up.
