Victor Harbor Events This Summer: Five Dates and the Free Hours Around Each
Five big dates fill the Victor Harbor foreshore between November and January, and almost every one starts late or finishes early. Here is when each begins, and how to spend the hours either side.

Warland Reserve is quiet on a late October morning, the lawn running down to the Victor Harbor foreshore and the Esplanade open to the sea and the spring wind. Five Victor Harbor events will fill that same stretch of foreshore between 20 November and 22 January, and each one starts late enough, or finishes early enough, to leave you most of a day to spend elsewhere on the Fleurieu. The last week of October is the time to plan around them: the dates are set, and our bench at Cut Hill Wall Distillery in Hindmarsh Valley still has 4 seats on Saturday 31 October.
The small problem with a big event in Victor Harbor is the hours either side of it. Visitors who drive down for the Christmas Pageant or the Tour Down Under tend to arrive early and wait on the Esplanade. The better plan, as a local sees it, is to spend the daylight inland or along the coast and come down to Warland Reserve when the event begins.
When do the Victor Harbor events start this summer?
Most of the summer’s big dates in Victor Harbor begin in the afternoon or evening, and the one that begins at dawn is finished by morning. That pattern is what makes a full Fleurieu day possible around each of them.
Schoolies Festival, Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November
The Schoolies Festival runs at Warland Reserve in Victor Harbor from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November 2026, as the council’s Schoolies page confirms. The festival hours are 7pm to 1am on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the hours are 3pm to 11pm, according to the ticketing page.

Where can we go on the Fleurieu during Schoolies weekend in Victor Harbor?
Schoolies weekend in Victor Harbor runs mostly after dark, so the Fleurieu by day stays open to everyone else. The festival hours at Warland Reserve mean the daytime is quieter, and a parent dropping off or a couple who booked the weekend months ago can plan a day a little away from the foreshore.
Fleurieu Food and Wine teaches at Lot 50 and Bungala House in Yankalilla and at Hastwell and Lightfoot in McLaren Vale, as well as at Cut Hill Wall Distillery near Victor Harbor. The classes across those venues run from pasta and dumplings to pizza: hands in the dough, a table to share, and what you make to take home.
Book early for any weekend near Victor Harbor. The Exclusive Mozzarella-Making & Tasting at Cut Hill Wall Distillery on Saturday 14 November, the weekend before Schoolies, has already sold out. Check the Pasta like Nonna Makes class page and the cheese class page for 20 to 22 November before you plan the drive.

Pasta like Nonna Makes runs at Cut Hill Wall Distillery in Hindmarsh Valley on Saturday 5 December at 11:30. The class is $125 per person. At the time of writing, 18 seats were left, on the pasta class booking page.
Pasta like Nonna Makes at Cut Hill Wall finishes with a spirit tasting from the distillery, which makes it a cooking class in Victor Harbor and a Fleurieu distillery visit in one sitting. A runner with a 7am start may hand that tasting to the friend who came down to cheer. Fresh pasta the day before a long run is the kind of carbohydrate nobody argues with.
The runner expo opens at 12pm on Saturday 5 December, half an hour after the class begins, and closes at 4pm. Check the class length on the booking page and leave time to reach Warland Reserve before the expo closes.

Mornings in Hindmarsh Valley, evenings on the foreshore
The Christmas Pageant, New Year’s Eve and the Tour Down Under finish all reward the same plan: spend the morning inland at Hindmarsh Valley, then come down to the water before the crowd does. Each of those three dates leaves the morning free.
Before the Victor Harbor Christmas Pageant
The Christmas Pageant leaves Saturday 12 December open until mid afternoon, when the roads close at 3:30pm. Our Exclusive Mozzarella-Making & Tasting at Cut Hill Wall Distillery in Hindmarsh Valley starts from $125, and guests stretch the curd, taste and take their cheese home. No Cut Hill Wall class is listed for that Saturday in our booking feed as we write, so check the cheese class page for that weekend.
Cheese and mozzarella classes at Cut Hill Wall Distillery often pair with a shared table lunch at Lost Phoenix Farm in Hindmarsh Valley. The class page sets out what each date includes. Then drive down before 3:30pm and find your place on the foreshore for the floats.
Before New Year’s Eve in Victor Harbor
New Year’s Eve in Victor Harbor does not begin until 7:30pm, which leaves the whole of Thursday 31 December to spend on the Fleurieu. Our classes run at Cut Hill Wall Distillery near Victor Harbor, at Lot 50 and Bungala House in Yankalilla and at Hastwell and Lightfoot in McLaren Vale. The late December dates are not yet in our booking feed, so check the class pages for the last days of the year.
Before the Tour Down Under riders arrive
The Tour Down Under finish on the Esplanade on Friday 22 January 2027 gives you a morning and two finishes. The men’s stage is due at 2:14pm and the women’s stage at 4:26pm, and the two hours between them are the reason to stay for both rather than leave after the first sprint. A morning making mozzarella at Cut Hill Wall Distillery, from $125, is a short drive from the finish line; check the cheese class page for race week.
By the time the women’s stage comes down the Esplanade at 4:26pm, the quiet lawn of an October morning will be hard to picture. The easiest afternoon on the foreshore will belong to the people who spent the morning at a bench in Hindmarsh Valley and came down to the water with the day already full.
